Nell's Point, the land the camp was built on, was popular and well used by locals and tourists. There were tennis courts,
popular walks and more on the headland.
When plans for the camp were announced, there was an outcry that popular roads and facilities would be closed. This resulted
in a public enquiry before the camp could go ahead.
Luckilly, the local council could see the benifits the camp would bring, and so full planning permission was granted
and the roads closed.
