Ken Rogers was the owner of Hyper Value Holdings, owning Hyper Value and the Barry Island Pleasure Park until his sad
death a few years ago.
What's he got to do with the camp?
When Rick Wright (owner of Majestic) took over the camp, he was good friends with Ken Rogers. He let Mr. Rogers open
a branch of his Hyper Value in the camp's Princes shopping centre. However this had disappeared by the 1989 season owing to
an apparent disagreement.
The reason for their disagreement was in the late 1980s they put in a joint bid to buy the Pleasure Park, Ken Rogers
then out bid their joint bid, and took sole control of the Pleasure Park. The two never agreed again, and when Ken Rogers
expressed an interest in the camp, Rick Wright igonred it.
Ken Rogers had big plans for the camp, and he commisioned architects drawings for his business plan, but he never
managed to take control of the camp from Rick Wright. If he had, the camp may still be open now.
